According to German media reports, German Football Association officials met with Red Bull representatives in Munich on Tuesday to hold key negotiations regarding Klopp's contract termination.
According to Sport1, citing SID, German Football Association President Neuendorf met with Red Bull executives in Munich. The core issue was whether Klopp could terminate his "Global Football Director" contract with Red Bull, which runs until 2029, and what conditions would be required. Previously, it was reported that the 59-year-old manager might continue working with Red Bull as an advisor.
A German Football Association (DFB) delegation led by Neuendorf and Watzke reached an agreement with Klopp last week in New York on a contract that runs until 2030. The DFB subsequently stated that it was "optimistic that the negotiations would eventually come to a successful conclusion," but "provided that an agreement is reached with Klopp's current employer, Red Bull."
A final solution is expected to be reached no later than this week, when Klopp will finalize negotiations with Red Bull CEO Mintzlaff in the United States. If the deal goes through, Klopp will replace Nagelsmann as Germany's national team coach. Nagelsmann resigned after another disappointing World Cup result. The new coach's first match will be a UEFA Nations League game against the Netherlands on September 24th in Amsterdam.
