The turning point of the match came just before the water break, when Yamal drew a foul from Digne in the penalty area, earning a penalty which Oyarzabal converted.

However, this does not mean that Spain has a sure win. The last time they took the lead against France on penalties in the World Cup was in the round of 16 in 2006. Although Spain opened the scoring with a penalty from Villa, goals from Ribery, Vieira and Zidane allowed France to complete the comeback.
