Ahead of the World Cup semi-final against Argentina, England center-back Konsa gave an interview. Konsa claimed that England had not watched a single Argentine match before the semi-final.
Konsa said, "We haven't had a chance to watch any of their matches yet. I believe that when we have a meeting tonight or tomorrow, we will see some clips of them and see what we can do to beat them. I believe they have a great mentality and strong mental attributes, and so do we."
Konsa played as a right-back against Norway and may take on the same role against Argentina, a departure from his usual center-back position at Aston Villa.
Konsa said: "I am very familiar with this position. I always say that I will give my all wherever the coach wants me to play, and I feel comfortable whether I play center-back or right-back. So we have to wait until tomorrow to see if I will still be in the same role."
Konsa also stated that he would not let any personal feelings interfere when facing his Villa teammate, Argentine goalkeeper Damian Martinez.
He added: "He's a very good goalkeeper, a great goalkeeper. I've played with him for many years, and I've learned a lot from him during my time at Villa, his winning mentality and desire to win, so it will be great to see him tomorrow. Everyone knows Damian Martinez, we know what kind of person he is, we know what he can do, so we'll be ready. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, but I believe it will be great to see him tomorrow after so long. Once you step onto that pitch, there are no friends."
