CNN: Brazil's football team sets new goals for the next cycle: winning the 2028 Copa America and qualifying as world champions.

On July 15, according to CNN, the Brazilian Football Confederation has set its goals for the new cycle: win the 2028 Copa America and finish first in the World Cup qualifiers.

CNN Brasil reports that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CF) set this goal at a planning meeting held on the 14th. The meeting was chaired by CF President Samir Chaudhry, and attended by vice presidents, board members, and presidents of state football federations. Men's national team executive coordinator Rodrigo Caetano was also present, and according to the CF, he "reported on the work currently underway."

Caetano explained the Brazilian team's preparations from the time Carlo Ancelotti took over until the World Cup, where Brazil was eliminated by Norway in the round of 16.

The Brazilian Football Confederation wrote in the meeting minutes: "The executive coordinator demonstrated how the plan covers the selection of high-level opponents and different schools of football around the world." The announcement also praised the integration between the youth and senior teams, and mentioned that "23 of the 26 players called up have previously played for the youth teams."

President Samir Shaud stated: "We certainly hope for better results (at the Men's World Cup), but it's important to showcase what's happening – whether it's the continued development of youth teams or the integration between different age groups in men's and women's football. So the work doesn't stop; it's continuous. We've turned the page and are now shifting our focus back to the Women's World Cup, while keeping an eye on the 2030 cycle."

During the meeting, Brazilian women's national team coach Arthur introduced the plans for the 2027 Women's World Cup, which will be held in Brazil. The tournament will kick off on June 24th next year, and the Brazilian team will utilize four international match windows between October 2026 and April 2027 to prepare. Furthermore, a friendly match against Japan has been confirmed for the end of this year. The Women's World Cup roster will be announced in May 2027.
