On July 16th, Beijing time, in the World Cup semi-final, Argentina defeated England 2-1. Argentine player Lionel Messi, who provided two assists in the match, was named FIFA's Man of the Match. Notably, Messi was presented with the trophy by his friend and Argentine legend Sergio Aguero.

In this match, Messi, who played the full game, provided assists for Enzo and Lautaro to score in the 85th and 92nd minutes respectively, helping Argentina to a 2-1 comeback victory and advance to the final.

This is Messi's fifth Man of the Match award in this tournament.
