On July 16th, Beijing time, in the World Cup semi-final, Argentina defeated England 2-1. After England conceded a 1-1 draw to Argentina, Bellingham appeared to express his dissatisfaction with Pickford.

Argentina capitalized on a tactical corner kick opportunity, with Enzo scoring a long-range shot. Despite Pickford's desperate dive to his right, he couldn't prevent the ball from finding the back of the net.
At the time, Bellingham was the only England player to step up and block Enzo's shot, so he didn't immediately see the entire goal. He later watched the replay on the stadium's big screen. From the broadcast, Bellingham appeared to angrily say, "It's the middle of the goal," a statement that may have been a questioning of Pickford's handling of the goal.
