According to RMC Sport, Thierry Henry has issued a formal clarification on social media regarding false rumors circulating after the France-Spain match.
In his opening remarks on the television program, Henry stated, "I must clarify the rumors and messages circulating on social media regarding my alleged comments about the French team."
The fabricated comments Henry referred to occurred after the France-Spain semi-final. Someone fabricated his alleged remarks on social media, including calling the French team's performance "disgraceful," accusing the team of lacking "courage and fighting spirit," and complaining that the team leaders "hidden away." This completely fictitious statement was shared by multiple media outlets.
"It's too easy to just put someone's face on a screen, add a quote, but without any video of what that person actually said," the all-time leading scorer for the French national team said angrily. "It's too easy to fool people. Please do your homework! It's 2026..."
Speaking to the camera in his hotel room in New York, Henry emphasized: "Many people make up stories. So please, I remind everyone again, verify the truth before forwarding, sharing, or discussing them."
He concluded by saying, "I know the video has geographical limitations, so people in Europe can't see what I said in the US. I will post what I actually said, and you will see that it is completely different from what has been circulated, especially in Europe. It's really unethical, and those so-called good media outlets had better verify the facts before forwarding them."
