On July 17, A-League club Melbourne Victory officially announced that former Australian international goalkeeper and former Borussia Dortmund player Langerak has officially joined the coaching staff as the team's goalkeeping coach for the new season.
The 37-year-old Langerak previously served as the goalkeeping coach at the club's Senior Academy, where he assisted Senior Academy head coach Besart Berisha in building the team.
During his playing career, Langerak played for Melbourne Victory twice, making a total of 34 appearances for the team. His career highlights include five years at Borussia Dortmund, over 280 appearances for Nagoya Grampus in Japan, and eight appearances for the Australian national team.
Langerak has replaced Davide Del Giovine, who will embark on a new career overseas with the club's support and blessings. Melbourne Victory also expressed their gratitude to Del Giovine for his hard work and contributions to the team over the past three years.
Melbourne Victory's Director of Football, John Didulica, stated:
“Langerak is no stranger to Victory fans. He played for the club twice, at the beginning and end of his career. As someone we nurtured and watched grow, we have always paid close attention to his career path.”
“Since returning to Melbourne, Langerak has focused on improving his coaching abilities. He has extensive experience in Australian and international football, as well as outstanding personal qualities, making him very suitable to lead our goalkeeping team.”
Langerak's appointment also signifies the official confirmation of Melbourne Victory's coaching staff for the 2026/27 A-League men's national team. The team will be led by head coach Giovanni Savarese, with assistant coach Andrew Durante assisting him.
