According to Goal.com, Nantes are in serious trouble with Egyptian striker Mustafa Mohamed, who has been absent since the team resumed training on June 24 and has refused to travel with the team for the Ligue 2 match.
At a press conference on Thursday, head coach Michele Del Zakarian confirmed the seriousness of the crisis: "We don't know where he is. We call him, and sometimes he doesn't answer. He doesn't seem to want to come to training, that's his problem, not ours. If he doesn't want to come, then he should stay home."
The 28-year-old player receives daily messages from the club's management reminding him that he will not receive his salary, and his whereabouts remain unknown, with the only trace left being a few posts on social media.
Mohamed joined Nantes four years ago, scoring 29 goals in 136 appearances. He had hoped to play in European competitions with the "Canaries," but Nantes were relegated to Ligue 2 last spring, and he was not selected for Egypt's latest World Cup squad.
Nantes had a promising start to the summer, with fans believing their new signings had built a squad capable of promotion.
