According to The Athletic, Roma have offered West Ham United €46 million for winger Somerville.
Sources familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity to protect the relationship, revealed that Roma made a €46 million offer (approximately £39.12 million, or $56.21 million) on Saturday. The Athletic reported earlier this summer that West Ham United expected to require around £50 million to approve Somerville's departure.
Somerville, 24, has a contract with West Ham United that expires in June 2029, but he is expected to leave in this transfer window following the team's relegation to the Championship. Previously, Matthäus Fernandes joined Tottenham Hotspur for £85 million.
The Athletic reported on June 16 that Manchester United have been seriously monitoring Somerwell and have inquired about his situation. The Dutch international has also attracted interest from Europa League winners Aston Villa.
Somerville was included in the Netherlands' squad for the 2026 World Cup and scored in the first two group stage matches. The Netherlands were subsequently eliminated in the round of 32 against Morocco, with Somerville missing a penalty in the match.
Last season, Somerville made 31 Premier League appearances for West Ham United, contributing 5 goals and 4 assists, but the team was ultimately relegated.
