A repeat offender, Paredes once unleashed a powerful shot at the Dutch substitutes' bench during a match in the last World Cup.

In the final of the USA-Canadian Cup, Argentina lost 0-1 to Spain. After the match, Argentine player Paredes assaulted Spanish players Eric Garcia and Gave, and was shown a straight red card.

Paredes' on-field outbursts of violence are not uncommon. In the 2022 World Cup quarter-final match between Argentina and the Netherlands, Paredes fouled Aké in the 88th minute and immediately got up and unleashed a powerful shot at the Dutch bench.

Subsequently, Dutch captain Virgil van Dijk knocked Paredes down, and a conflict ensued. Paredes ultimately received a yellow card for the foul.
