In the 94th minute, Enzo Fernandez, already on a yellow card, charged at young Spanish defender Cubas during a challenge, causing Cubas to fall and roll over. Referee Vencic immediately showed a second yellow card, sending Enzo off the field.
Enzo explained to the referee and tried to prove that his action was not malicious, but the decision remained unchanged. He also realized that his behavior could affect the team, so he asked for forgiveness from the Argentine fans after the game.
England striker and commentator Alan Shearer criticized Enzo's choice during his commentary: "Enzo Fernandez's behavior was incredibly stupid.
