After Spain won the World Cup, Oyarzabal gave a post-match interview to Telemundo.

How do you feel right now?

We are very happy and incredibly proud of ourselves.

How many times have you pinched yourself? All your childhood dreams have come true; you've become a world champion.

I don't think we've really realized this yet; it might take some time before we fully believe it. But let's see what happens when we get back to Madrid tomorrow; maybe then we'll gradually realize it.

You definitely will. The championship, it's truly incredible. Judging from their performance, Spain was clearly superior; and you seemed to have the mental edge as well. Congratulations!

Thank you. It was a very tough game. They played their own way and kept waiting for their chance. I think we played better, and everyone is very happy now.

Could you briefly recap the course of the match? You performed better in the first half, so what exactly did the team say in the locker room after halftime to maintain that desire to win in the second half?

There wasn't anything special about it; we just continued playing the same way. We knew we were doing the right thing, and scoring was just a matter of time. At that moment, I felt we were playing better than them; we created more chances and controlled the game much better. Ultimately, I think scoring was a result of those very actions.

What are the next plans?

I don't know either. Right now I think... (laughs)

The first stop is a party, the second stop is still a party, and the third stop is also a party, is that right?

Hopefully so, hopefully so. The next few days might be crazy, but we're all happy.

Mikel, this generation of players has known each other since their time in Spain's youth teams, and the head coach knows many of you. Wasn't it easier for him to understand you? And wasn't it also easier for you to understand and execute his philosophy, ultimately leading to these results?

Yes. I think many players on the team have been playing together for 10 or 12 years, and often under the same coach. I think this is evident not only on the pitch but also in their daily interactions. Everyone can see that, beyond the football aspect, the team itself is excellent, and this provides a great advantage in such a long tournament. We are all very happy because we have finally achieved our shared goal.
