Following Argentina's 1-0 defeat to Spain in the World Cup final, Scaloni expressed doubts about his future. In an interview with Radio Mitre, Miler, speaking about Messi, said: "Anyone who maintains a professional level for over 20 years deserves respect. Moreover, he brings immense joy to all Argentinians and everyone who appreciates great football."
The president also praised Argentina's head coach, Scaloni, calling him an "extraordinary person" and an "outstanding leader." When asked about Scaloni's future with the national team, Miler said he hoped the coach would "follow his heart and achieve the happiness and success he desires in life."
Miler's statement comes after Scaloni hinted at his possible resignation as Argentina's head coach. Scaloni said he needed "time to make a decision" and planned to meet with Argentine Football Association President Claudio Tapia.
Mile also praised Argentina's overall performance in this World Cup and called on fans to acknowledge the team's achievements after the final defeat. "No one can blame them for anything because they gave everything. The result of the final cannot overshadow or diminish the team's great achievements," he said.
The president added: "I am infinitely grateful for everything they have done and for the way they have defended the values of the Argentine people. They have proven that Argentinians never give up until the last second. Argentina never surrenders."
In Sunday's final, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 with a last-minute extra-time goal from Ferran Torres, winning their second World Cup title in national team history, having previously triumphed in the 2010 South Africa World Cup. Argentina, meanwhile, failed to lift the trophy for the fourth time.
