Rooney believes that Messi should have won the World Cup Golden Boot, but it was "snatched" by Mbappe.

Argentina lost 0-1 to Spain in the final of this World Cup and failed to win the championship. Mbappe, on the other hand, won the Golden Boot for the second consecutive World Cup with 10 goals, surpassing Messi (8 goals) thanks to his two goals in the third-place match.
During the program, Rooney questioned the value of Mbappe's two goals in the ranking match. He stated, "France had already been eliminated at that point... to be honest, those goals shouldn't count. Of course, they count in the rules, but I think it's really unfair to Messi."
Another legendary English striker, Alan Shearer, called France's victory over England in Florida an "exhibition match."
He added, "I watched yesterday's game, and from the course of the match, it felt like a friendly match." He emphasized that Mbappe scored those two goals after France had already been eliminated.
He concluded by saying, "Messi is playing against Spain in the World Cup final, and Spain only conceded one goal throughout the entire tournament, which is much more difficult."
