According to Bild, former German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann returned from vacation with his wife Lina on Tuesday afternoon, ending their trip to Mallorca.
Following Germany's 3-4 penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay in the World Cup Round of 32 and Nagelsmann's subsequent resignation as national team coach, he and Lina spent a few days relaxing on the popular Balearic Islands. As previously reported by Bild, the couple even took a walk together along the waterfront promenade in Pudo Portals on Saturday evening.
On Tuesday afternoon, they returned to Germany on a tourist flight. Nagelsmann and his wife sat in the business class of the nearly full Condor flight DE1513, flying from Palma, Mallorca to Munich. The former German Football Association coach was wearing shorts, a white T-shirt, a baseball cap, and casual black sunglasses. Due to a delay of about 20 minutes, Nagelsmann's red and white "private plane" landed at Munich Airport at 5:29 PM.
Notably, the Nagelsmanns were the first to disembark from the plane a few minutes later via the external staircase next to the main stairs, before all other passengers. They then left the tarmac in a black sedan.
Germany was eliminated after losing 3-4 to Paraguay in a penalty shootout, and Nagelsmann subsequently resigned from his position.
The German Football Association is currently in talks with Jürgen Klopp, who is seen as his successor. Following the Paraguay match, the German coach initially refused to resign.
Nagelsmann said, "I am definitely not the kind of person who would run away."
However, under mild pressure, the attitude subsequently changed. In a statement, German Football Association (DFB) President Bernd Neuendorf said: "The DFB would like to express its sincere gratitude to Julian Nagelsmann for his work since September 2023. He has demonstrated a very high level of commitment and extraordinary ambition. Julian Nagelsmann is also a very responsible and sincere person, and we all value him."
