A few days after the World Cup final, Brazilian football legend Ronaldo commented on the performances of Spain and Argentina in a short video program.
Ronaldo said: "This is a historic day, whether from a competitive point of view—because Spain dominated the game from start to finish as I expected, or for other reasons. Spain didn't score many goals, nor did they win by a large margin as they deserved, but it was truly an absolute dominance of the whole game."
Messi and his teammates "have never played beautiful football".
Ronaldo stated, "The quality gap between Spain and Argentina is enormous. Even with Messi, they couldn't compete. Argentina lacked the fighting spirit they displayed throughout the tournament, which is their strength. A talented player can win a game, but you need the collective strength of a team to win the World Cup, like Spain did."
"Argentina (in this World Cup) has never played beautiful football, but has only fought with courage. Spain, on the other hand, has the DNA of beautiful football. Brazil's 'beautiful football' has been surpassed, and Spain's current style is the best."
