Sammer: I can hardly see anything in this German team now.

Sammer harshly criticized Germany's team after their World Cup exit and praised Argentina's playing style.

Sammer said: "I can see almost nothing in this German team now, neither on a competitive level nor on a mental level. It makes one have to redefine the word 'helplessness'."

In analyzing the German team's performance, Sammer criticized the team's lack of stamina and clear game strategy. His biggest complaint, however, was that the team lacked a winning mentality. Sammer said, "More seriously, I feel the team lacked that must-win fighting spirit."

Sammer believes that the German team has placed too much emphasis on results in recent years. He said, "In this tournament, just like in the past few years, results are no longer the focus. The focus is on making everyone comfortable, and hypocrisy has taken over, while no one talks about the conflicts."

He added, "People try to achieve something extraordinary within the most comfortable and satisfying rules. That doesn't work in sports or in life." Sammer stated, "This team is a mirror of our society. Sometimes it looks more like the truth than it actually is."

In his view, the German Football Association (DFB) must provide clear guidelines for everything from children's football to the national team. Sammer said, "To this end, the DFB must first understand that it must assume leadership responsibility in terms of content. It must find the right people to develop the overall working guidelines."

Sammer continued, "We've now reached a point where we're even starting to feel ashamed of our traditional strengths, that so-called German spirit." His demand was a renewed emphasis on basic endurance, fundamental techniques, and targeted individual development.

In this interview, Sammer also expressed his willingness to help German football from a content perspective. However, he emphasized, "This is not about giving Matthäus Sammer any position, but about content."

Speaking about Klopp, who is about to take over as the German national team coach, Sammer said: "Klopp is the perfect candidate for this position. Jürgen represents physicality and a high tempo. He has a clear tactical approach both with and without the ball. He has presence and authority. He also understands that after becoming the national team coach, he will no longer be personally involved in daily training and will have to rely on the work within the pyramid behind him, the youth development system."
