Sky Germany: Trump hopes the World Cup will return to the US as soon as possible; 2038 is a possibility.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Trump hopes to bring the World Cup back to the United States as soon as possible. During the World Cup final, the US president told FIFA President Gianni Infantino, "We must hold it again, and while I'm still here."

Although the host country for the next World Cup has not yet been determined, Trump's wish may come true. The 2030 World Cup will be held in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay also hosting some matches. The 2034 World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia, and 2038 is the next vacant date.

The current situation clearly favors the United States. There is no stipulated interval between World Cup hosting editions. Furthermore, the previous principle of continental rotation has been weakened. Although, in principle, the confederation of the previous and subsequent host nations should recuse itself from bidding, FIFA still has considerable leeway in its interpretation of the rules.

Based on the current order of hosting, North and Central America and the Caribbean, and Oceania are the most likely candidates for 2038. The United States has the clear advantage in these two regions. New Zealand, as a possible representative of Oceania, lacks the infrastructure required to host an event of this scale; the United States, on the other hand, has modern stadiums, transportation networks, and extensive experience in hosting large-scale events.

Furthermore, according to The Guardian, FIFA is already discussing the possibility of the United States bidding to host the World Cup again. The report states that FIFA is, in principle, open to the World Cup being held in the United States once more.

However, such a bid will not be without obstacles. There are concerns within the CONCACAF region regarding the US hosting alone, so a joint bid with Canada and Mexico is also considered a possibility. Theoretically, more Caribbean countries could also join this World Cup proposal.

If FIFA does indeed award the hosting rights to the United States again, the country will host the Men's World Cup for the third time, following 1994 and 2026. This will also be the second time in 12 years that the United States has hosted the World Cup.

For Trump, this would be a particularly striking coincidence: if the 2038 World Cup is indeed held in the United States, the current president will be 92 years old at that time.
