On July 24, Beijing time, the German Football Association officially announced at a press conference that Jürgen Klopp will succeed Julian Nagelsmann as the head coach of the German national team, signing a contract until July 2030.
Following Germany's shock defeat to Paraguay in the Round of 32 at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Mexico and their subsequent elimination from the tournament, Julian Nagelsmann resigned as head coach of the German national team. The German Football Association then announced that Jürgen Klopp had officially signed on as the new head coach of the German national team.
Klopp managed Mainz from 2001 to 2008, leading them to promotion to the Bundesliga in 2004. From 2008 to 2015, he was the manager of Borussia Dortmund, leading them to the Bundesliga titles in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, the German Cup in the 2011-12 season, and a runner-up finish in the UEFA Champions League in the 2012-13 season. During his tenure at Liverpool from 2015 to 2024, Klopp led the team to the UEFA Champions League titles in the 2018-19 season, the Premier League titles in the 2019-20 season, the FIFA Club World Cup in 2019, the UEFA Super Cup in 2019, the FA Cup in the 2021-22 season, and the League Cup in the 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons.
In the summer of 2024, Klopp announced his resignation from Liverpool. On January 1, 2025, Red Bull announced that Klopp would become Red Bull's Global Head of Football. In the summer of 2026, Klopp negotiated a termination of his contract with Red Bull; since there was no termination clause, no transfer fee was incurred.
