According to Goal.com, Kahn has reservations about the German national team's rapid recovery under Klopp's management.
During the Bastian Schweinsteiger Cup – a charity golf tournament – former Bayern Munich and German national team goalkeeper Oliver Kahn expressed to BR24 his doubts about the new German national team coach's ability to quickly turn things around.
“Personally, I don’t think it’s as simple as many people imagine. I think the issues are deeper,” Kahn explained. He believes Klopp first needs to address some fundamental problems.
"What players do we want to develop in the next few years? What kind of players do we really want? What kind of football do we want to play?" the former goalkeeper and former Bayern Munich president continued.
However, Kahn believes that Klopp "is a very experienced person and will definitely bring about a lot of changes." His former teammate Schweinsteiger also believes that the German Football Association made the right choice in selecting the 59-year-old coach. "It will certainly be his task, but he is an excellent coach. I think Jürgen Klopp is exactly the coach needed in this situation."
Jurgen Klopp was officially appointed as the new head coach of the German national team by the German Football Association last Friday. He succeeds Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after being eliminated by Paraguay in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
