According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have returned to Chicago to prepare for preseason, with Wirtz, Hrafinberg and Isak also back in the squad.
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Florian Wirtz, Matthew Ryan and Alexander Isak have arrived at Liverpool’s preseason training ground in Chicago.
The three players, who had enjoyed more than three weeks of leave due to their respective World Cup campaigns, are now ready to rejoin their club teammates for training. Liverpool flew back to Chicago immediately after their 4-2 victory over Sunderland at Geodis Park in Nashville on Saturday night, and Iraola revealed that the star players would be waiting for the team upon their arrival in Illinois.
Iraola confirmed, "They're already in Chicago. They're waiting for us. Alex, Flo, and Ryan. They'll start training with us tomorrow; we have two more games."
"I hope we can make good use of them and continue to gradually improve the areas where we didn't do well today."
Speaking about the victory over the Black Cats, Iraola added, "I felt the first and second halves were very different. Especially in the first half, they were clearly stronger. We gradually brought the game back to evenness, and you could feel the difference."
“There are many things that need to be corrected, after all, this is the first game. You can feel that the players’ legs are heavy because they have been training a lot, so we lack some freshness.”
"But this will give us a good starting point to continue improving."
Liverpool will face Championship side Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in New York on Thursday, followed by a match against Leeds United in Chicago on August 2nd, concluding their tour.
The two teams also faced off on Saturday night, with the Championship side winning 3-2 at Redmond James Stadium in Florida.
