According to Goal, the appointment of a new coach for the Dutch national team will take more time due to disagreements between the Dutch Football Association and Slaughter's expectations.
Sources close to the matter told the aforementioned media outlet that the Dutch Football Association has prepared a contract for Slaughter, extending until mid-2030. However, the currently unemployed coach prefers a contract that runs until the end of the 2028 European Championship.
Since Koeman's departure following the World Cup defeat, Slaughter has been a candidate for the Dutch national team coaching position. Even so, his negotiations with the Dutch Football Association have yet to reach a final agreement.
The Dutch Football Association seems to need to speed things up. The Netherlands will face Germany in the UEFA Nations League on September 24, and Klopp was appointed as Germany's new coach last week.
It appears that Sloot is indeed interested in the Dutch national team coaching position. Recent reports suggest that Liverpool are willing to cover his salary if he ultimately signs with the Dutch Football Association.
Liverpool would also benefit. According to a report in The Telegraph, the club would need to pay Sloth over €10 million. The sacked manager has behaved gracefully since leaving office, so the Premier League giants are willing to help him secure the Dutch national team position.
