Völler: Germany should take Spain as its role model, not Argentina.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp was told how the team should play shortly after taking over the German national team. The former Liverpool manager was one of the first people the German Football Association contacted when Nagelsmann resigned following the World Cup defeat and penalty shootout loss to Paraguay.

Klopp carries a heavy burden, as the German national team hasn't won a major tournament knockout stage match in 10 years. Liverpool fans know that Klopp does things his own way and won't accept outside interference.

However, this did not stop German football legend and German Football Association sporting director Rudolf Völler from giving Klopp advice.

"We German team need to defend better," Völler said at an international coaching conference in Mainz. "Many people take Argentina as an example, but I think that's a bad one."

"Argentina has suddenly become the standard. I think that's a bit hypocritical. I don't want a team that plays like Argentina. That has nothing to do with football."

"Yes, they are world champions, and this time they got the runner-up again. But to be honest, I don't understand why so many people are praising them."

Förler added: "Spain deserves all the praise. They not only have excellent ball control and attack, but they also defend very well. They are truly role models. I also really like England."

Klopp has made it clear that he took the job out of a sense of national honor, not because he needed to return to coaching. At his first press conference, Klopp stated that he would resign if the German media treated him the way they treated Nagelsmann or Thomas.

He said, "I took this job not for myself, but for you. I took this job because I saw how you treated Nagelsmann and Thomas Thomas."

"If Klopp becomes a complete idiot tomorrow, then I'll leave. But if the German Football Association says, 'Come on, let's stop this job,' then it's over."

“If your behavior is egregious and disrupts my family’s peace, I will leave. I will leave immediately. I love this job, but I am ready to resign at any time.”
