According to an exclusive report by Sky Germany journalist Philipp Hinze, RB Leipzig is in talks with Norwegian goalkeeper Erjan Nyland. The 35-year-old, World Cup-winning goalkeeper is one of Leipzig's potential replacements should Peter Gulacsi decide to join Villarreal. Nyland previously played for RB Leipzig in the 2022/23 season, joining on a free transfer. Leipzig has once again listed him as a transfer target, making him a viable option for the club.

Philipp Hinze reports that Peter Gulacsić has reached an agreement in principle with Villarreal. According to exclusive sources, for the deal to go through, RB Leipzig needs to find a replacement goalkeeper and is currently in negotiations with players such as Örjan Nyland. If Gulacsić ultimately decides to transfer and Leipzig finalizes a replacement, the deal will be completed without any issues regarding the transfer fee. Leipzig initially hoped for a low seven-figure transfer fee, but they are aware that Gulacsić is 36 years old, a veteran player, and currently commands a relatively high salary within the team. This transfer largely depends on Gulacsić's own decision; Nyland is just one of several goalkeeper candidates being considered by Leipzig.
