According to the latest report from RMC Sport, UEFA hopes to push Nasser to run for FIFA president, but he himself has no such intention.

According to reports, UEFA is in open conflict with Gianni Infantino and is looking for a candidate to run in FIFA's presidential election in March 2027. This need has become almost a must after FIFA's controversial plan to create and subsequently sell commercial companies was exposed.

UEFA officials have considered Nasser as a potential candidate, but as the media reported in mid-July, Nasser has no inclination to do so. A person close to him confirmed again on Wednesday that he will not join the race against Infantino for the FIFA presidency.

The source close to Nasser said: "He has absolutely no ambition, no intention, and no interest in taking up this position at FIFA. He will continue to quietly support global and European football organizations."

In addition to his familiarity with European football, Nasser also has extensive connections in Asia through Qatar and is familiar with media operations as chairman of BeIn Media Group. Some UEFA officials believe that these identities make him a suitable candidate to compete with Infantino for the FIFA election in March 2027.

Nasser is currently focused on his work in Paris and the European Club Association, so it is highly unlikely that he will run for FIFA presidency. It is also hard to imagine him running for office with only a few months left before the election.

Especially given his extremely low chances of winning, the main reason lies in Infantino's control over global football. Even if he does run for the nomination, which is not the current trend, he will face a tough battle.

During his 10 years as FIFA president, Gianni Infantino has woven his own network within FIFA and at almost every level. In his two terms, the Swiss national has driven significant growth in FIFA revenue, which in turn has led to increased payments to national football associations.

Even before FIFA Commercial opened up equity to private partners, this financial success already gave him considerable influence among many member associations. To date, Infantino has secured the support of several African, Asian, and South American football associations for the March 2027 elections.

Even if Nasser receives the support of most, but not necessarily all, of the 55 European football associations, he will still need to win the votes of the remaining FIFA member associations. FIFA has 211 member associations, and if Nasser does run for office, all the old issues that could potentially cause controversy during the election campaign could be brought up again.
