Former Italian Football Federation president and current UEFA vice president Gravina fiercely criticized FIFA president Gianni Infantino in La Repubblica.
“Football doesn’t belong to Infantino, nor to those in high positions within the organization.” Gravina also criticized the idea of “selling the World Cup,” saying it reflects “the arrogance of assuming power that doesn’t exist, or claiming football as one’s own.” He stated that this “plan was only learned of from the international media; FIFA had never discussed it with anyone before.”
Gravina said, "This is really unacceptable. Football is not just a business." He also pointed out that proposing such an operation in a FIFA election year, claiming it's to bring more funds to national football associations, is "serious." He believes that football and national football associations "deserve respect more than money."
The Italian football official also stated that "we have seen unacceptable things" at the World Cup, pointing the finger at "political interference accepted by Infantino."
