Adidas CEO Björn Gulden apologized for the abundance of pink football boots at the World Cup. Responding to an AFP question while releasing quarterly earnings on Thursday, he said, "I think it was just a coincidence, and hopefully this won't happen again."

Goulden stated that Adidas "didn't know what Nike, Puma, or New Balance were doing." The 61-year-old Norwegian also said that pink "is undoubtedly a beautiful color," but "it's a bit strange that we all ended up choosing the same shade."
This color trend may be partly due to the fact that pink is more visible on green grass, making the product more likely to attract fans' attention. Nike's football boot product manager, Odinga Nimac, recently told The Athletic that some players also prefer pink because it represents confidence.
